In the audit report of the "Committee against Torture", which was held in Nizhny Novgorod branch from April 29 to May 17, said that the costs and activities of the organization's statutes and laws of the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, the audit revealed some irregularities in the organization, such as the failure to inform the change of address of one of the offices, reports "Interfax". With them, human rights activists agreed.
"Committee against Torture" was warned by the prosecutor in April 2013. It said that the organization has received money from foreign sources, and some stocks in which the committee was involved, can be regarded as a political activity.
According to the amendments to the law on non-profit organizations, those NGOs that receive foreign funding and engage in political activity in Russia, have to apply for inclusion in the special register of the Ministry of Justice and the label itself as a "foreign agent". The law has caused strong criticism among human rights activists and civil society representatives.
