# Arms of Kiev - the first known scientist arms, XV century, was the bow with two arrows. In 1782 the city received a new coat of arms depicting the Archangel Michael. Archangel - in short tunic, with a halo around the head with a sword and a shield in the right-hand. In 1919, this emblem was repealed by the Bolshevik government. Only 50 years later, in 1969 introduces a new coat of arms. At the heart of his pictures lay board of Slavic form. Dnieper and its tributaries (the Desna, Pripyat, Berezina, Pochayna, Glubochitsa, Kiyanka and Lybed) have long played an important role in the economic and political life of the population of the Middle Dnieper.
