Russia and the U.S. have destroyed four drug laboratories in Afghanistan


Power structures of Russia and the United States conducted a joint operation in Afghanistan and destroyed four drug labs. On Friday, May 24, with reference to the statement by the Director of the Russian Federal Service for Drug Control Agency Viktor Ivanov news agency RIA Novosti.

The operation was still in the Thursday, May 23, in the Afghan province of Kunduz. The number of drug seizures, and other details were not disclosed. It is only known that this operation was the ninth joint operation between the two countries to combat drug production.

On the first joint operation of Russia and the United States was reported in October 2010. Then were eliminated three heroin labs and one - morphine. During the operation was destroyed so much heroin that it would be enough for 200 million doses.

Earlier, in February 2010 it was announced that Russia and the United States reached an agreement on the joint fight against drug trafficking in Afghanistan. Then it was decided that the Russian officers will go to work in the United focal point in Afghanistan.

According to the Federal Drug Control Service, each year from Afghanistan to Russia delivered 21 tons of heroin. Afghan authorities estimate the volume of exports to 95 tons.
